SeatSnug is a first-of-its-kind product that allows children in belt positioning booster seats to be more safely secured by a vehicle's seatbelt to enhance safety and comfort. Car accidents are the leading cause of death and injury for children and loose seat belts are a major contributor. The typical three-point seatbelt represents a compromise between safety and comfort, and allows slack or looseness to develop in the lap belt portion while children are riding. A loose seatbelt allows a child in a booster seat to bounce around, rock, tip, slide, and even fall over and allows the lap belt to readily ride up on the abdomen during normal vehicle maneuvering. In frontal and side impacts, in rollovers, in panic stops, or from sharp maneuvering, a child can submarine (slide under the lap belt), be thrown against the vehicle side or be ejected, even though the seatbelt was buckled. SeatSnug solves the by preventing lap belt looseness. This improves a child's comfort too. SeatSnug can easily be clipped on an existing seatbelt. Once a child in a booster seat is buckled up, the lap belt may be lightly tightened around the child's upper thighs and hips by pulling up on the shoulder belt, without affecting the normal operation of the shoulder belt. This product is not approved for use by the National Transportation Safety Board, it is NOT approved for use by any Car Seat Manufacturer in conjunction with any of their products (using this product will VOID the warranty on any car seat/booster) and this product is NOT approved for use by any vehicle manufacturer.
Many (if not all) modern vehicles come with seatbelt pre-tensioners that activate in the event of a crash. This product prevents the seatbelt mechanism from doing its job and could potentially contribute to a malfunction that will actually cause your child more harm than good.
If you are concerned about your childs safety in a booster seat, buy your child a 5-point harnessing seat that is rated for their weight instead. Believe it or not, car seat manufacturers make 5-point seat models that are rated up to 80 pounds. These seats are a much better item for peace of mind about your childs safety.
"Safety Mom" Allison Rhodes has no engineering degree or any formal training in crash safety testing. Her site (safetymom.com) doesn't even list that she has a CPST certification (Child Passenger Safety Technician). I went to her website and searched the internet in hopes that I was wrong, but I have been unable to find any indication that "Safety Mom" is anything but a mom that sells her crusade to companies in return for her endorsement.
Being aware of your child's weight, using a properly rated car seat/booster, using said car seat/booster according to the manufacturers exact directions, and ensuring that the seat/booster you are using is compatible with your vehicle will be the safest method of transporting your child in your vehicle.

Why I left this product review: I am a parent of 2 boys, this morning Amazon.com sent me an email recommending this product. I felt that it was imperative that other parents knew the whole truth about these unauthorized, unapproved modifications to car seats/booster usage.

We just moved our five year old to a backless booster. Ever since we did this, I never felt that he was totally safe in the back of our minivan. Someone gave me SeatSnug to try and right away I noticed a huge difference in the way he would stay in his booster. He no longer rocks back and forth when I drive.
