Customer Critiques

I would not recommend this item if you personal a Snugride 30 vehicle seat. I bought this because Graco does not manufacture an additional base especially for the Snugride 30, and the packaging advertises that this base is compatible with it. Then again, as a number of other reviewers have noted, this is only partially the case. Even though the vehicle seat does lock into the base, there is no level indicator on the base to enable you to determine whether the automobile seat is effectively angled. For those who personal the Snugride 35, the level indicator is on the vehicle seat itself, but the Snugride 30 relies on a level indicator on its base. Following browsing the online for solutions, I have found that it is probable to "eyeball" the angle by using the red line on the side of my automobile seat, but this genuinely doesn't appear adequate. The level indicator provides convenience and certainty that you have installed the seat proper, whereas the red line process is less exact and a hassle. Moreover, Graco does not give any information and facts in its directions or on its webpage about how to deal with the missing level indicator for the Snugride 30. Thinking of that the only alternative for Snugride 30 owners is to obtain this alternate model of added base, it appears like a significant oversight to neglect the main situation they will encounter.
General, I feel frustrated that Graco has provided a product that is only about 80% compatible with the Snugride 30 and has provided no directions on how to deal with the missing 20%. I would happily spend for a fully compatible model, but Graco does not manufacture 1. For those with a Snugride 30, I would advise searching into the possibility of ordering a second Snugride 30 base via Graco's web page as a "replacement component." However, they are out of stock at the moment (maybe simply because of this highly concern), but I hope that they make them readily available in the future.

With the arrival of our first grandchild, my wife and I bought the Graco Snugride 35 infant auto seat as properly as an extra base to maintain in our second automobile. The extra base is identical to the base that comes with the automobile seat, and for that reason works specifically the very same as the original base. Putting the vehicle seat into the additional base is no completely different than placing it into the base that comes with the auto seat.
The unfavorable assessment claiming that the added base is a "washed out version" of the original base is basically incorrect. Both are made out of the exact same supplies, and in truth as I stated above are identical in all respects.
In addition, it is the auto seat itself, and NOT the base, that consists of a level indicator to assure that the automobile seat is adjusted at the proper installation angle. That adjustment is achieved by a dial on the vehicle seat, and has absolutely nothing to do with the base. Hence the criticism in the negative critique that the additional base does not have such an indicator, but that the original base does, is once more just wrong.
For grandparents, just before you rush out to obtain a second base (like we did), check to see how hard it is for you to install and remove the original base. Our vehicles are a little older and do not have the latch anchorage program on newer vehicles. Thus we use the seatbelt to attach the base, which is an a lot easier installation. In truth, it is not substantially harder than helping an individual strap themselves in and takes just a minute once you know what you are performing. Therefore removing the original base to use in a second car would not be troublesome.
On the other hand we decided to maintain the additional base anyhow as an added convenience. On the other hand, for busy parents who use two vehicles the additional base is most certainly worth the convenience, specifically if they take turns transporting their child (such as choosing the child up from day care).
Bottom line: This item operates just fine. I suggest it.
Update March 26, 2011: According to one of the persons commenting, if you own the Snugride 30 rather than the Snugride 35, then the leveler is in truth on the base that comes with the Snugride 30 seat. Even though this additional base does not have a leveler, he supplies an straightforward resolution so that you can nonetheless use this base with the Snugride 30.
