Buyer Critiques
We bought two of these Safety 1st Comfy Carry Elite Plus car seats for our twins. Two weeks before our twins were to arrive, we installed them in our van. What we found was that the head portion of the seat lifts off of the base though the foot part stays securely attached. Each auto seats have rear BASE attachment buttons (as they are called in the manual). Obtaining this odd, I read the manual again. In the manual it claims to have rear BASE attachment HOLES. On each of our bases these HOLES do not exsist. I named the Dorel company and they stated that yes that is how they made these auto seats and bases and that it is protected. They also said that the rear BASE attachment buttons are for use in the Security 1st stroller. I informed them that their manual is very misleading and was told they'd make a note of it. Besides that, you can not use this vehicle seat in the seating region or across the top rated of a buying cart considering that it does not have a feature to lock it on. The Graco we had for our two 1/two year old we could because it was in a position to lock on to the buying cart seat area. 1 other down fall we observed was that with a winter car seat cover more than the top of the seat, you are unable to secure the seat to the base. You have to take off the foot part of the cover in order to secure the seat to the base, what a discomfort. Needless to say, we returned these automobile seats.

I like this infant seat much better than my Designer 22 model purchased 3 years ago.
These are the factors I puchased it just after seeing a model in the store: huge discount at Amazon, it is only 6 1/2 pounds (2 pounds lighter than my earlier seat), it has an up front harness adjustment, the canopy has a velcro attachment at the head of the seat so the material does not flap around when folded back, the infant insert has velcro for swift removal, the harness straps are simply and fast adjustable through the back of the seat by working with a metal "splitter plate" (metal hooks holding the harness straps which you can unhook and re-hook once the straps are rethread), has a frequent "dual plate" buckle instead of the "puzzle" buckle, and attached to the base it is 2 inches narrower than my preceding seat (auto seat itself is about 1 inch narrower) which is necessary considering that this seat will be proper subsequent to a regular size convertible automobile seat. Also, I was pleasantly shocked that the color of the seat is essentially brown but in the stock pictures it appears gray.
One particular point I noticed that seemed cheaper is that the base only has 1 height adjustment which consists of a red block below the base fliping out and locking into location adding 2 1/2 inchs of height at the foot region. Safety 1st calls the block a recline foot. My previous Designer 22 adjustable base had three numerous heights to pick from. I didn't require the recline foot in order for my automobile seat to be level to the ground so this wasn't an problem for me.
This car seat is not compatible with my old stroller which came with the Designer 22 infant seat. According to Safety 1st the new strollers compatible with the Comfy Carry infant seats currently are: CV146 Saunter Stroller, CV204 3-Ease or the CV140 Clic! Universal.
General, I would advocate this automobile seat as it is light and very easy to adjust. I gave it 4 stars for the seemingly cheaper recline foot and that Safety 1st decided to not make this seat compatible with previously created strollers. I have an Acella Sport Travel Program and the stroller looks just like the new CV204 3-Ease.
