Buyer Critiques
My wife was driving our 2011 Ford Expedition with our 21 month old, 28 pound son forward facing in this car seat mounted in the captain's seat behind her. They had been struck head on by a auto estimated to be traveling 75 miles per hour at the time of influence. The seat was secured using the SureLatch program. The impact destroyed the front end of our truck, but the kid seat did not move, and my son's only injury was bruising on his shoulders and chest where the straps held him in the seat. The driver of the automobile that struck them was killed.
I know that this seat will operate as designed, and have no hesitation in replacing his seat with an additional Evenflo Symphony 65.
My eleven month old son has been implementing The Evenflo Symphony 65 car seat for a month and a half and we each love it! I had to get rid of it and reinstall it a couple of instances and it has been a cinch, particularly compared to the automobile seat in our second automobile. It takes a minute or two to click it into place and push down on the seat to tighten it. We at the moment are working with it rear-facing and due to the fact it reclines on it's axis it fits pretty well in my Toyota Corolla. This was a relief due to the fact we discovered that the 1st car seat we bought did not fit rear-facing in my car. Please note, on the other hand, that the space for the front passenger is pretty limited. My son is especially content material in the seat and I am happy with my purchase, in spite of the higher price tag. On a side note, the cup holder seems a tiny flimsy, but I do not use it anyway.
UPDATE 1/17/11
My son is now 17 months old, we've been making use of the auto seat for over 6 months and I am pretty pleased with it. He is now 31" lengthy and about 23 pounds and we still have him rear facing. He fits pretty comfortably and I am pleased that he will be able to remain rear-facing for really awhile longer. He falls asleep a lot in the car and his head does not flop forward (we do not use the extra pillow that came with the seat mainly because he tends to sweat without difficulty). I purchased JJ Cole strap covers to stop the straps from digging into his neck and they seem to function nicely. It is good that the harness adjuster is hassle-free to access and tighten even when the seat is rear facing as my other auto seat does not allow this conveniently.
UPDATE 1/6/12
I originally reviewed the Evenflo Symphony 65 but it appears that the listing might possibly have been switched out (though the photo appears to be an Evenflo Symphony seat nonetheless). I was hunting to invest in a second Symphony in spite of this find it unclear as to what seat is getting sold here. I have contacted Amazon for a resolution.
