Customer Critiques
I've read a lot of mixed reviews about these seat saver types of things and keep hearing they are not secure. I value the life of my unborn kid above all else, but I also value the condition of my vehicle I've worked so hard to keep. I figured I'd give it a shot and see what happens with the safety inspection.
I installed this seat saver in a 2003 Infiniti QX4 applying the LATCH system with a Graco Snugride 32. We have leather seats in the car. My husband was able to get a particularly tight fit with the LATCH system and we have much less than 1" of movement. I then took the installation to the neighborhood police station to have it inspected. He said "We ordinarily suggest against this kind of thing, but I have no problem with this installation. The cause is that 1 there is little to no movement and 2 each the best and the bottom are created of a non-skid surface." He stated in the past that a lot of seat savers had been hard, slippery plastic on best and that was not secure.
The only cause I am giving it 4 stars is because the bottom part isn't quite wide adequate for our seats. If you put the lip all the way to the crease of the seat, the portion that is supposed to fold down just sticks straight out. I'm hoping more than time it will settle down.
We bought this at a completely different retailer and utilised it with our first baby's carseat. In spite of installing the seat properly on best of the the protector pad (putting my knee in the carseat and tugging the LATCH straps especially tightly), the carseat nonetheless slid around a LOT.
We ended up removing the protector and reinstalling the carseat the identical way (knee in seat, tugging hard), and the carseat didn't budge a bit.
Our car has fabric, not leather seats, but the seats are contoured. I feel since of the thickness of the pad, it does not conform to the shape of the seat, but becomes an extra surface, which can lead to a carseat sliding as well much.
We ended up obtaining some thing else, much less expensive, for the back of the seat, rather than one thing underneath the carseat, and that worked outstanding. I consider working with a towel could work fine, underneath the carseat, for some protection, with no sliding concerns.
